Draw what you see…

What I’m learning at Sketchbook Skool…

Parked in Jersey City

I’ve started carrying a sketchbook with me wherever I go, so when I found a prized parking space in Jersey City, NJ this morning I took some time to draw the scene in front of me. I sketched using a marker rather than a pencil, which is a new concept for me and added watercolor and some colored pencils when I got home. In the past, I would have found all the imperfections in my drawing, and there are plenty; I might even have torn it up and tossed it.  But I learned to silence my inner critic, to enjoy the process and know that I’m learning and challenging myself; and I’m really having fun. So this week, challenge yourself. Carry a sketchbook  or journal and draw (or write about) what you see.

Down time…

What do you do at the service center while waiting for your car to be repaired? Do your Sketchbook Skool homework, and draw the kitchenette…

Next time you find yourself having to wait,  draw something, write a poem or a song, or a story. Do something creative and the time will fly. This week my http://www.sketchbookskool.com homework this week was to “draw your kitchen.”  Mine’s a mess, so I borrowed this one.  Give it a whirl. Draw YOUR kitchen, or use your kitchen as a writing prompt.
